My husband and I have not been here in years. We've always enjoyed the food and view..We were not disappointed! We started with 2 Spicy Bloody Mary's.. they came with olives and a nice lemon wedge. We both loved them! My husband started with the potato soup which was rich with a beautiful silky chunky texture with bits of cheddar and bacon. This was on the Specials menu..He ordered the fish and chips for lunch. He has tries them everywhere and Jakes makes them to perfection ๐Ÿ‘Œ I ordered the Sole Franchaise.A nice size plate with a side of carrots and zucchini and a salad..I was offered a potato side but opted for something lighter..It was sooo good! My husband tried and loved it so I gave him a huge slice of my sole..the vegetables were crisp and tender at the same time and seasoned perfectly The salad it came with was a medley of different lettuces and tossed in a homemade vinegarette..I usually do not like the side salads served at resturaunts but I devoured this.. not overly dressed and perfectly tossed and a very tasty dressing! I had a sauvignon blanc with my meal and my husband had the IPA Mega Boss. We will be going back here sooner than later and enjoy the outdoor patio to dine. Although it is enclosed for the winter months. They put on the outdoor heaters and by the time we left it had warmed up and filled with diners..If you are looking for a great seafood place with atmosphere and fabulous food, great service and a view..Captain Jakes is your place!

Beautiful atmosphere. Beautiful outdoor seating. Casual attire and the prices are reasonable. The fish tacos were good. Service was excellent! Our waiter was very attentive and the food did not take long good. Only downside is parking. It's difficult to find parking but if you are patient, you can locate a spot.

I live locally and have not been here for a while. The food was outstanding! Sorry, no pics. My friend had the swordfish which she loved. Her husband had a non-seafood sandwich that was great (& too big to finish). I ordered Sole Frachese. It was delicious & not overcooked. The vegetables (jullienned carrots & zucchini) were nice & crunchy. The potato croquet was larger than expected, also nice & crispy.

Only comment: the plate had a lot of frachese sauce covering the vegetables & potato. While I did not mind, many might

Visited Captain Jakeโ€™s for early dinner. This was our first time time the area and we wanted to try seafood. The staff was very pleasant and nice. We sat out on the heated indoor patio that overlooked the Hudson River ( very nice view) even on a dreary day. We tried the wings as an appetizer and they were so good. Cooked to perfection and piping hot( best way to eat fried chicken). My entrees was a sesame glazed salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli and it was delicious. Definitely will visit again and must certainly recommend that you visit as well.

I liked this place alot. It was a little chilly in there, but we were by the waterfont, the doors were open, and people were outside sitting underneath the tent. The staff is friendly, and attentive. The food is amazing. The Sole Francaise was something new for me. Never tried it before, but it was delicious. I recommend trying the Buffalo Shrimp, & Clams Oreganato. I really enjoyed those as appetizers. A nice experience overall!

Really enjoyed this place. I thought the red sangria tasted better than the white. Split pea soup was delicious. Oysters Rockefeller were very good. The Captains Platter was great! Surf and Turf was cooked just right. The two specials we ordered, I believe one was a halibut piccata and the other a seafood gumbo and they were amazing!! I personally had the gumbo and man I have never had such a delicious seafood stew. The service was really good. Make reservations if you prefer to sit outside especially since it's great weather for it right now! Wonderful experience!!

1st time eating dinner here, the food was delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ pictures included. Go give them a visit. $6 dollars per shrimp was a bit much but they were deliciously fresh and large.

Great service and the food was delicious. Interesting specials, including a crab meat stuffed pretzel. Never had that before. The Ribeye was quite tender and cooked to order. The lobster rolls were really jammed with lobster so a great review for that to. Pretty decent desert menu too. I would strongly suggest making reservations as walk-ins were getting turned down. All together a very nice experience with excellent ambiance if you are sitting outside. On a beautiful day, the Hudson River views are enjoyable watching the personal.water crafts and commercial marine vessels navigate the river.

My wife and I on the way home needed dinner after a long day. When a restaurant near Captain Jake's would not take us, Captain Jake's took us without a reservation. We ordered the fish and chips and fish tacos. Both were excellent! Both were cooked to perfection and generous portions. I enjoyed the rice and beans with the tacos. Would definitely choose Captain Jake's over the other restaurant who only accepted reservations but had many many empty tables.

Excellent fresh seafood. Wings are to die for. Fish tacos are amazing. Excellent customer service. Served in a timely manner. Only gripe was my surf and turf steak was a little overcooked. But overall an excellent experience and highly recommended.

The view outside was so peaceful and scenic. Made our dining experience that much more magical. Drinks were most excellent - "the Fig & the fish" was so delicious and refreshing. One of the best seafood restaurants I've been too in the NY/NJ/Conn area. Raw bar on point, big portions and food well cooked. Suggest making a reservation. Worth the drive from NYC. BRAVO ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ

Love their raw bar. Oysters are always so fresh, appetizers & dinners are always delicious. I would avoid the butternut squash risotto right now as it is seasonal. Soft shell crab special is amazing!

Excellent service! Almost too good ๐Ÿ˜‚. All of the service staff was very attentive. My server was Nicole-- who was very friendly and helpful. I was impressed. I was dining out solo (first time visiting Newburgh) and really wanted to find lobster. I haven't had lobster in Maine for a while (so I can't make an accurate comparison), but given that it is off season (dead of winter) and not New England, the lobster and clam chowder was pretty good!! Food came out quick and there is a beautiful view of the Hudson River.

Wonderful service, and even better food. The views of the river are stunning. It feels low key even though when we were there it was rather busy. I would highly recommend if you're in the mood for some lobster!

Always a good meal. Sat at the bar because there were no tables. Bartender and the young man shucking the clams and oysters were wonderful. Friendly attentive and helpful. Great experience.
